Timo Gross live! The title is emblematic: earthy and rough, unpolished and authentic, the songs come along, without beating around the bush. Timo Gross gives the blues its space and gives it the energy that his fans love so much. In the many years together, the blues guitarist and his band have become a unit, grown together, in countless hours on, behind and in front of the stages, formed by the joys and passion of music. With his live album Timo Gross now pays tribute to all this.
Starting with the instrumental „Struttin`“ to the title track of his last studio CD „Desire“ to the acoustic „Here comes the Blues“ – with his earthy voice and the unmistakable sound of his Stratocaster Timo Gross moves between blues, soul and rock.
Together with his longtime companion Michael Siegwart on drums, Rolf Breyer on bass and Markus Lauer on Hammond organ, he presents an album that lives up to his reputation as a creative and tireless musician. Direct and expressive, Timo Gross plays with influences ranging from funk to Americana, loses himself in rousing solos and in the next moment withdraws completely to make room for his colleagues.
Whether with electric guitar, dobro or acoustic, Timo Gross captivates his listeners with every note and never loosens the ropes through the entire concert. Courageously he pushes his limits, exceeds them with the energy of his rhythm section behind him and then returns to the roots of the blues that have accompanied him since childhood, that he lives and loves.
More extroverted than on his studio albums, but not necessarily louder, Timo Gross shows himself on his new album. With „Road Worn“ he respectfully looks back at his previous work, summarizes it and presents it anew.
